Is it the card or the game?

Say now you're getting artifacts in a game and you want to find out if your card is screwed or it's just a software issue.

Would a good way to identify this be running furmark and checking for any artifacts? Because I ran furmark for around 10 minutes and I saw no crashes or artifacts so I'm guessing it's the game?

Yes for a 460 Furmark is not a bad test to run. I prefer OCCT GPU with error checking turned on for 5-10 minutes as well as Unigine Heaven for about 15-45 minutes though. Just don't go crazy with the amount of time running furmark or OCCT.

I dont recommend furmark because its overload and overheat the card too much with non real world load. try to test some 3dmark , unigine heaven or just another game.

Not necessarily. Furmark is far from being a definitive stability test. I've had OCs look "fine" in Kombustor and fail within seconds in Metro.

What game are you talking about and how severe are the artifacts?
