If you're just trying to use the 3011 I would use the dual-link and sRBG mode on the monitor, it seems to work well with the dell IPS panels.

yessir.gif That would be the best choice.

If you have a displayport cable and a bit of time, I suggest at least attempting to use the modified Quadro INF to install the Quadro drivers with a non Quadro GPU:

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=352511

Have the installer extract to a known location, it will fail to start, but the folder will still exist
Download the modified INF file from this post and drop it in the Display.Driver folder within the folder the installer extracted and run setup.exe from the folder the installer extracted to.

I hear a lot of good things about performance gains with these drivers. Not to mention they add support for applications that restrict themselves to Quadro GPUs and (hopefully for both myself and you) add support for 10-bpc color

I'm running those very quadro drivers now with no hiccups, but I don't have any displayport cables or ports on my cards so I can't really test the 10bit color thing. Also if you run Linux, the entire operating system supports 10bit colors.

Well, I now have a GTX 580 running on 285.58 drivers, but it doesn't think it's a Quadro or display 10-bit in CS4. Thanks for trying, though!

For Photoshop to detect it as a quadro device there is another tweak you have to do:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/adobe-cs5-cuda-64-bit,2770-3.html
It may help

Oh, I misread it doesn't really detect it as a quadro device it just adds it to the list of supported devices for GPU acceleration, dunno if it will help any at all lol.

I've done a bit more research and it says the Nvidia drivers if all hardware supports it, it will automatically switch to a composite solution for 30-bit colors on Windows 7 (the UI remains 24-bit where a 30-bit OpenGL canvas is created.) The only real way to check is to open a 30-bit PSD and check for banding:
http://www.amd.com/us/Documents/ramp.psd
This PSD is a single grayscale gradient that will display banding on a NON 30-bit display. Unfortunately since I am on DVI the driver WILL NOT automatically switch without a profile for my display that supports 30-bit over DVI. With ATi this is a non issue since the 10-bit toggle is built into the Catalyst control center with their workstation cards.
