Recommend Me a Configuration

Hey all..

I'm having a terrible time trying to keep my 4 Radeon 6950's cool in Quadfire, so I think I'm going to have to switch to watercooling. Air cooling just doesn't cut it.

I want to keep my budget under $600, preferably at $500. I want a loop that keeps them cool even with slight overclocking.

I was thinking I could get the XSPC RX360 kit and then 4 universal waterblocks (my cards are all non-reference). My case only has mounts for a 360 rad and a 120 rad, but I could potentially break out some tools and add an extra 240 or something like that.

Will this all be enough to cool these beasts? They get HOT. I'm talking like 103 C.

Is fan noise a problem? because you might be able to find louder fans at a cheaper price.....i recommend to put the money into the pump and radiator instead of the tubing and waterblocks....with the tubing i recommend Primochill....it runs about $2 per foot. also, try out Amazon and Newegg because they have the cheapest prices i have seen.

Fan noise isn't really a problem, I can always get a fan controller and turn it up when I'm gaming. Are you referring to the fans for the radiators?

i would suggest get some dual or triple fan config gpu cooler's. but since you have quad 6950 i would of suggested to get accelero extreme plus ii but you don't have 12 slots available since it takes about 3 slots total with gpu and cooler so i would say get a thin dual 80 or 92 mm gpu cooler. since i have a msi r6950 with the twin frozr 3 and that has dual fans. so i would go for artic cooling for their dual fan gpu cooler for them. with the dual 92mm fan heatsink that the twin frozr 3 has temp hit as hit as 70C with 980/1500

4 GPU blocks, a cpu block, res, pump, barbs, clamps, tubing, very nice fans, and a minimum of a 360mm rad and 240mm with a very high FPI count, you are looking at way over $500. You could mount a 360mm Rad on the back of your case as well for 2 360mm rads which is what I would recommend.

You say they are none reference cards, can you please link; they might be just non-reference coolers (which you wont use if you WC anyway)

Indeed budget is alittle low, you going to have to up that to about $750 (assuming US $ here)

They are definitely non-reference:

1 x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102945
3 x http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150530

I've been told that if I get 6870 waterblocks, they'll fit the 6870, but I can't find very many 6870 waterblocks. Besides, universal ones are almost $50 cheaper.

if i were you i would drop two of the gpu's and put the accelero extreme plus ii and over clock them to what i have well to 1.295 and you would be able to play any game in eyefinity and maxed out with about 60+ fps. since the scaling would not be to good. since you have 4 of them just sell all four and get two 6990's and the artic cooling triple fan heatsink and you will be fine to plus any game at the same estimated settings but higher fps. for right now i would also unlock the shaders only since you will basically have 4 6970's

I really like my cards and I want to keep them all and overclock them/unlock them to 6970's. And the scaling is amazing on ATI cards, you just never see it on reviews because no one tests out 3600x1920 or 5760x1200. Besides, two 6990's would be at least $300 more than my 4 x 6950's

Attached a WIP part list.. thoughts?

Also, what kind of fittings/tubing should I use? Sizes, brands?
