I'm just heartbroken that BD isn't panning out after me waiting for it since June. I also don't want to jump ship and then have a BIOS update make BD chips what they were supposed to be.

Also, if I said I was going with a water cooled setup...would that change the overall opinion of which chip I should get?
http://www.guru3d.com/article/amd-fx...rmance-review/

Look at the review of the FX 4100. It loses to an Athlon II x4 645 in some of the tests and Phenom II x4 in the others. There is no magic bios coming out to fix Bulldozer performance, or any registry patch either. 990FX (and other 9 series chipsets boards) have been out for a considerably long time, and AMD chose the Crosshair V to send out with the press kit for reviewing. Do you think they would send a board with crap results to bench their flagship product? Board manufacturers have had plenty of time to develop the bios, and UEFI isn't an argument either since many manufacturers have used it on 1155 boards. Finally, Shamino made the bios for the CH V, definitely one of the best guys out there. Passmark is totally not a valid form of benchmarking, for all you know the results were skewed or the CPU was running OC'ed when it claims it isn't. You've seen the performance in everything else, don't hide from the truth.

Bulldozer is a flop, power consumption is through the roof, JF-AMD has intentionally mislead consumers: see here and here, and lastly AMD is intentionally misleading customers into believing Intel's performance is worse than it actually is. It really is a terrible situation with Bulldozer. And no, I'm not a fangirl. Like I said before get the 960T it's a much better option. Piledriver would be the only AM3+ cpu worthwhile to get, but even then I feel it's going to be underperforming.

If you have the money for a decent water cooling setup, you might as well get a 2500K instead. A decent water cooling setup runs at least $150-200, which will more cover any losses incurred in selling your motherboard and getting a good Z68 board.

2500K OC'd on air cooling will outperform FX4100 on water cooling by a long shot. No BIOS update is going to make an FX4100 outperform a 2500K.

the 4xxx series are really only light duty computer chips, more meant for internet surfing, i would call it the new sempron.

These benchmarks make it look more and more like BD may not be a total flop. I mean, it shows the 8150 as beating even the 990X.

Also, I'm getting a new case (a used 700D, but I'm selling my current case) AND WC setup for $170. Believe me, I don't have the money for a brand new WC setup. However, I am considering a 2500k.

Buy and play with it, user experience with board and fine tuning can go a long way.
look the potential that was hidden in phenom II Nb over clocks.
That 960T does look fun too unlocks to an x6 Thuban probably clocks like one.

I read somewhere the Revision 3B is possibly being worked on for the bulldozer chips. So maybe you should hold off for awhile if this is true to see what the final outcome is.

Ordered the FX4100. It should be here Saturday or Monday. Hopefully I can get everything up and running by Wed of next week. Any requests for benchmarking tools y'all want me to run?

FYI, first post updated with a website to purchase AMD FX-4100 CPU's.
