I just thought I'd add what little I can to this thread: I updated my OCZ Vertex 3 120GB to this firmware straight out of the box, and have not encountered a single BSOD within my couple days worth of usage.
Also, I wanted to report that I have an Nvidia 580 GTX (actually 2 of 'em
), and followed the same steps as mcg75 to update my firmware, and I didn't encounter the issue he had, but as he said, it may be that it sometimes works, and sometimes does not. I'm just glad that in my case, it wasn't, and hopefully not too many others will have the problem neither.

Secondly, once the reboot is done, shut the computer down. At this point, you should use the jumper terminals on the board to clear cmos. If no terminals then remove the battery.
Might I ask what the purpose of this is? I had not done so, and just wondering if/why it would be necessary to do so now?Edited by DJRK - 10/21/11 at 12:20pm
