Anybody have Dirt 3 Tips?

I got dirt 3 with my video card, and while I love the game, I think I kind of suck at it. I don't like using assists and I play with a keyboard (though I do plan to purchase a wheel down the road) so I realize I'm at a disadvantage but any help would be appreciated. Driving manual+car setup is in the video, although it changes between tracks obviously.

Don't kill the controls to turn the car. Use light taps and don't get too happy on the accelerator.

I sucked at the game when i first played it, without assists just like you. But once you play for a few hours with the keyboard, you will get used to it. Alternatively, if you have an xBox, xBox 360, PS3, or PS2 controller, you can use that.

I use this as well, and that's the only way you can play with a keyboard.

This also applies to gamepads.

Try a controller. Although a wheel would be a better investment for other racing games.

When I got Dirt 2 it took me a whole weekend to not finish last in the first race. After that though it got fun, it takes some time to get your touch if you're going keyboard on this game.

I have Dirt 3 on my Steam but haven't DL'd it yet (*60 GB a month cap here). Is it gorgeous?

I wouldn't recommend purchasing a wheel for this game. I have a GT Pro and the game is much better with a 360 controller in my experience. Now F1 is a different story.

gamepad's are for *****'s tongue.gif get a wheel DFGT is a good starter wheel and its not expensive.

tips for playing with the keyboard: turn off the racing line, in dirt you can pretty much cut over the edges of most the corners without loosing time.
