Anandtech GPU Bench 2011:5870cf

I've been thinking about pulling the trigger on getting a second 5870 for $175-210ish. I'm not sure if I should just stick with a single 5870 and wait for the 7xxx series late winter/early 2012 or just get a second 5870.

I've never used crossfire or sli set ups before. So, i'm not sure how long the performance scaling lasts years later when driver support might be dying off and newer cards take priority for development.

Are these bench results fairly accurate? If that's the case 2 5870s being near 2 6950s does not seem too bad.

Seems to be at a level of performance identical to two 6870s

I had a pair of 5870's for over a year. Best crossfire experience I've had to date (and I had paired 6870's and 6970's at one point). Very stable.

Two will provide you with an excellent performance boost.

Haha, I always come to this point and ask the same question....

I always buy a single top of the line card. Then, when I decide if I should get a second one I usually talk myself out of it because the next generation is usually right around the corner .

Thanks for the response, good to know that the 5870 xf performance is good.
