Noctua NH-D14 + 2500k high temps

Thread Starter
I recently built my sig rig last Saturday and I'm getting 40C idle on my 2500k at stock settings and around 55C on prime95. Ambient temps here are around 25-30C.

When I turn on the A/C though, the idle temp drops to around 32-34C.

I've already reseated the heatsink once. and temps remained the same. Is this normal?

40C is a little high as my temps are around 33C on idle with the Thermalright Silver Arrow. Make sure you replace your thermal grease every time you reseat the cooler, cause I was getting 100C+ on Intel stock when I ran Prime95 with bad thermal grease.

1. Which thermal paste was used?

2. How much was applied?

Just repeating what I've heard from others on here but I wouldnt worry to much about idle temperatures. Supposedely the temp sensors are much less accurate at lower temps. Although 55 degrees load is pretty high at stock volts with a D14. I load at 60 at 4.2 ghz 1.23 volts with a hyper 212+

@Mercurysteam: I made sure to clean the thermal paste off the base and the processor before reseating but temps are still the same.

@Diabolical999: 1. I just used the one that came with the NH-D14
2. Just a little pea-sized drop on the middle of the processor

Ambient temps have a lot to do with idle temps. The fact you're turning the air conditioner on and CPU idle temps drop to low 30c's, speaks for itself. Hot climate area, sounds like.

I'm guessing this temp's normal with regards to the ambient temp here. I'll try to OC this thing later and see how it compares to other people's temps

your temps don't sound too bad for your ambient.
Ambient temp makes the biggest difference in Cpu temps.
You turn on your A/C, 8 degrees drop. speaks for itself.

Like some people have already said, only load temps matter. And you can get those down by lowering the voltage to lowest possible (even if not OC'd)

I've been running prime 95 for an hour now at 4.3GHz with 1.216v. So far the temp is at 62C. Is this any good for an NH-D14?

P.S. I haven't done any reseating since the first one.
