keyboard on laptop, HELP

Hey guys. I got a really weird issue on a friends laptop. He brought it into work for me to fix and told me he couldnt get his password in (windows login). I thought he may have forgotten his password, so I told him no problem.

The actual problem is the keyboard isnt working. But its only not working for the windows login. It works in bios just fine. I tried plugging in a usb keyboard and it did the same thing.

Anyone got any ideas?

nvm, I got it. Alt key was stuck.

Ok somehow I fixed it temporarily, but now its not working again. I cant figure this out. Ive tried everything. The keyboard is working, it just wont accept any letters. There has got to be some kind of locking feature or the like that I am missing.
