I'm using 16:10 at the minute on my old TV, it is LCD but came out before HD took off so the only thing it's good for now is being a monitor. I could do with a new 1080p monitor or something though.

I have never encountered black bars on my 16:10, only ever on my 16:9 laptop tongue.gif

Actually 4 of them lack 16:10 support. Yes, 4 out of 10!

PES12, Bastion, Limbo and Driver San Fransisco.

Just check it out for your self if you want!

But I will give you a chance. Unless you lie we shall easily find a fix for two of them so do it. You wont which prove that your previous post was a complete lie!

Even without bothering to check those 4, I think they are not supported even with a fix

But that is too small of a sample size. I mean, 4? 4?!

Sorry, just no.

I do admit that after a bit of digging around, my estimate was an overshoot. I confused some of the games's having a 16:10 fix with having a fix for anamorphic in eyefinity resolutions as well, but apparently that was not how it turned out.

Still doesn't change the point of your list being a very small percentage (most of your games are small time games most people don't play on the PC, mainly, console ports. Only a few larger games there)

Well, to play consolegames on an 16:10 monitor is even worse. PS3 doesnt even support 16:10 at all.

And just as I showed the procentage aint small any more. It has risen just as I showed you and is now an issue when considering purchase of a gamingmonitor.

I don't know much about consoles. If they output 1920x1080 to a 1920x1200, you should just be able to put it to 1:1 scaling mode and have no issues whatsoever.

I don't see the point of this debate. I honestly don't care about black bars and I'm willing to live with them if it means that I can have more vertical space when I'm doing real work (coding) on my machine.

Oh no, there's a tiny bit of blank space on my 24" monitor! WHAT SHALL I EVER DO?!

I have no problem with that.

What I dislike is that there are false information going around making people that are about to buying a monitor to believe that they will have bigger Field of view and no black bars in games.

andrews. If you plauy games from around 2000 you should buy a 4:3 monitor yes. Everybody knows that. Just read link in my sign.

From wiki:
"4:3 Stretch is a similar image scaling method as anamorphic but where the FOV is locked to 4:3 and either stretched or leaving black bars on widescreen monitors. This was the standard for early PC games before 16:10 and 16:9 monitors were introduced but this scalingmethod is rarely used nowadays"

All new games support 16:9.

I dont think ive ever owned a 16:9 monitor, really not on purpose hell i didnt even know aspect ratios and the difference until i started coming onto here. I see it as if i do go back with 16:10 i wouldnt know no difference, as 16:9 would be a big difference for me.

Been using 16:10 since my first Trinitron in 2001. I don't like 16:9 because it is smaller. Nor do I like 1920x1080. Opinions opinions....
