Xeb, how come you didn't show him my validation? http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1359324

Anyway, your in good hands with Xeb, he knows the limitations of this chip better then me so take his advice.

Off topic, Xeb are you going to stand in the cold this year to bench or go get yourself a Pot?

Like I said, you need a bit of voltage on the NB (1.4) and VTT @ 1.32 is plenty.

Up vcore as you like from there.

Also, trust me bro, run a 2.00D with a 400MHz strap. Your ram will be running slower, BUT you gain stability. Besides, gaming you won't notice at all. Take a little advice from vet here.

What are your voltages right now?

Nice.

Now creep the fsb up to 410. Raise the MCH to 1.26 and be sure and scale the MCH Refs. Same way you'd do the cpu Refs:
#1 Set MCH to stock 1.20
#2 Set MCH Ref to stock, whatever that is
#3 Go back and raise the MCH to 1.26 and the Ref should scale

See how far that goes. You want to creep the oc up a bit, but, also, get the RAM up to about 1100 MHz if it can handle it--which I'm sure it can.

Do the same thing for the RAM voltages:
#1 Set the RAM voltage to 1.8
#2 Set everything below it to stock, .76 or whatever it is
#3 Go back and set the proper RAM voltage manually and everything below it will scale.

Get the highest cpu oc stable and get your RAM up then you can go in and lower the Performance level to the lowest/tightest setting for a nice little gain in speed. At 1101 MHz my crappy sticks can do PL of 7 and be stable.

That board can get everything optimized pretty easy. Just takes a little reading and tweaking.

Good job you did there.

Ol' silvergoat has that 6600 rockin' out.

I'm kinda stuck fsb wise. I refuse to believe this chip can't handle a 500 fsb. I'm sure I'm missing something but I can't figure out wth it is. Maybe 1000mv on the CPU Clock Drive..? I've grabbed some settings from TweakTown for 500fsb on 65nm quads but I haven't gotten around to trying them yet...for some reason my Mega isn't handling the heat like it used to.

But, oh well... such is the life of an oc addict.

Thanks for the advice on the memory--- I may decide to do that later, but I really don't want to risk memory instability on this computer since I'll be using it for work and cloning drives.

Next step for me is the Asus board, once I get the new capacitor soldered in there......I hope that fixes it- that one I'll be beating the tar out of. DDR3 RAM that should overclock to 1600 (However I did get it from the same guy that sold me the broken board so I'm going to have to memtest the crap out of it). Q9450 + GTX480 + DDR3 should give me good results provided everything works.

Oh IDK, that's like loaning out my car or something, not that I would mind but I would miss it...a lot
Maybe if I get one of the new OCN Marksman pots I could let it go for a month though.

Computer is running okay... a few lags here and there, but I don't know if it's my old old XP o/s install

Anyways- I ordered a new thermal pad for my MOBO mosfets. I always suspected my northbridge because when I took it apart, I removed my thermal pad and used thermal paste.....but thermal paste shouldn't be used to close that big of a gap, even though it's below 1mm.

Not sure it could be an issue, but with this higher CPU speed, I don't want to end up with a burned out MOBO.

Thanks for all your help--- will write down settings and then try to bring voltages down once the new cooling is in.....I may even use my Q9450 and swap over my Promilatech because of the crappy ASUS MOBO I have.

This should be fun-

Thanks again to all those that helped me out!!!
