He'll have another $1500 to spend in a few months so he'll pick up 2 monitors and another 6990.
$2500 for what i quoted.

he still has $500 for a monitor, sound card, headset, mouse/keyboard, and a pad.

monitor 24 inches are like $200
sound card are like $100-125
headset: $100
keyboard/mouse: $100

If he strictly gaming just save $100 for the cpu and go i5-2500k, get a cheaper cpu cooler, and look into the $150-200 boards as they OC just as well. The more $ just gives you more SLI/CF choice to go tri or quad.

this is also a good case too, the white version comes with a mesh side that can mount 4 x 120mm fans... it comes with two 200mm fans ...so lots of air blowing at the vid cards and exhausting.

Tbh most of the other stuff has been planned out. It's just the case, GPU, and fans I am still searching for.

But thanks for the input.

I will most likely pick the Sapphire one since they are all reference design and I have heard great things about them.

no problem!

yeah i would personally get the HAF 932, its a wicked case for air cooling and one of the best out there for that matter. Just keep in mind you want as many big fans as possible to cool those 6990s, they are the hottest cards on the planet.. haha

I would look into the Raven RV-02. SOLID case for air cooling, doesnt give too many options for possible liquid cooling in the future, which is a bummer (dont get me wrong, it has been done, and been done damn well from the liquid RV02s I have seen.)

But in all seriousness, I would really look into that case, it is awesome for air-coolers and definitely an underrated case for what it is, with absolutely suberb cooling ability and build quality.

Let you friend build it... The

real friends don't let friends buy alienware
just got quoted for my sig such an amazing saying cus its so true... DO NOT go with that alienware... get the two 6990s now, especially with that budget of yours... you can easily get the quadfire now

GL with the build!

EDIT: Heres the link to the case I was talking about:

Just to mention what others not:

1. The motherboard must have NF200 chip with 2 full PCIe lanes x16/x16, and spacing of 3 PCIe slots jump. That's the requirement with x2 6990s with custom cooler if no plan to watercool.

2. Air cooling case, full tower as you will need as much air flow as possible. 2x 6990s will dump the heat inside the case.

3. Minimum PSU requirement continuous rating of 1200w, bigger is better.

4. Only one custom cooler available for 6990 http://www.kitguru.net/components/gr...cooler-review/
