Should I consider 6970CF as an upgrade????

I was thinking about the not so distant future of my rig (that isn't even finished yet lol) and was wondering if a 6970CF setup would be a worthwhile upgrade. I currently have a reference 5970. My PSU doesn't have enough connectors to support a CF setup so I would also have to buy that ($100). The cards would be $350ea. So all in all it would be an $800 upgrade. My question is would it be worth it. I game at 1920x1200 on a 27.5" monitor and have no intention of going any bigger and I hate multiple monitor setups (eyefinity).

that would definitely be a significant improvement over your current system, but whether or not it's worth it is up to you. Are you one of those people who enjoys being able to run games at maximum settings, or are you satisfied with just running games smoothly with decent quality graphics.

In my opinion, the best route would be to go with one 6970 for now, and if you feel you need the extra bump in power, go ahead and get that second one

That $800 would not be noticeable, Not worth it at all.

The only 'Real' upgrade would be a 2x GTX 580s tbh, But way too expensive for the minimal amount of FPS gain.

Verdict : Not worth it, Wait till AMD SI 7xxx series

I want to run at maxed settings. Are you saying one 6970 > 5970?

I would stick with your current GPU. Its still a beast of a card. Maybe look at 7000 series when it comes out 1st quarter next year.
