Case for Asus GTX580 DCII build

Thread Starter
Hi guys,

I am just looking for advice on choosing a suitable case to hold an Asus GTX580 DCII (plus i5-2500k, P8Z68-V-Pro, 1x SpinPoint HDD, TX650M PSU).

I am after a clean and simple looking case, with obviously enough space to hold the 580. I am just a bit concerned, given its size.

I think I have narrowed my field down to these five (pretty much in order of preference):
1. Fractal Design Define R3
2. Corsair Carbide 500R
3. Antec P183 V3
4. Lian Li PC-K62
5. Coolermaster CM 690 II Adv.

I am hoping someone can validate my choices and relieve some pre-purchase tension in regards to compatibility.

Thanks in advance!

I've owned 3 of the 5 cases you mentioned plus the 580DCII.

The 580 DCII will fit an R3, no problem, I've also found it to be a great case, quiet with good airflow and cable management.
The 183 is a good'un, too. I reckon it's better quality IMHO than Fractal, but it makes for a harder build and it was just too big for my tastes.

If silence is a priority, I would avoid the Lian-Li (shame as their quality is impeccable).

In all honesty if I could do it all over again I would have chosen a different 580 as I've found the DCII has an irritating fan tone at idle.

2, 5, 4 would be my choice in that order. The Corsair case though I think is a cut above the all of the rest. The cooling is better at stock than than the fractal. Personally I like the looks a lot better.

Since you seem to like the Define, check out the Arc. With all that hot air spilling into your case, you might enjoy a bit more airflow that the Arc allows for. All your choices save for the Antec are spectacular though.

Thanks for the replies guys! After watching a couple of videos on NeweggTV, I am starting to lean towards the 500R, but the R3 is still possible.
