Skipping Bulldozer. Hello 1100T.

Thread Starter
Like many of you I was completely dissapointed and put off by the release of Bulldozer. I am glad I didn't sell my 790FX-GD70 to "upgrade" to an AM3+ board like everyone (including myself, sadly) has been recommending for the past months.

Since I have lost all interest in AMD this round and didn't want to jump ship to intels current offerings quite just yet because of rumors and speculation about the new upcoming processors they will have on the market soon, I decided to buy an AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Brand New for a steal price ($140 Shipped) off eBay (link).

I just wanted to know what you guys think about my decision. I know I would've been fine with my 955 but tbh I wanted something a bit newer that can hit higher clocks.. the 955 will continue its duties in my other rig. smile.gif

You'd be better off getting a 1090T, if you can get it for cheaper. The 1100T is barely better binned, you wouldn't notice the difference.

I don't know. 2500k is enticing. It's almost as if AMD wants you to buy a 2500k with their current pricing on the 8120 and 8150. Honestly I don't see why you don't go with a 2500k in this case, even if you prefer AMD like me.

I agree and I did find the 1090T also on sale on eBay (link) for $15 less than what I paid but I guess I went with the 1100T for that tad bit of extra e-peen. lachen.gif

True, the 2500K is very appealing at its current price point versus the FX chips but I didn't feel that spending all that extra dough for Sandy Bridges performance boost was worth it over my current setup.

I was actually hoping Bulldozers would, obviously I had hoped for too much. sadsmiley.gif

Yes, I have already ordered the 1100T. It's being shipped from Vietnam, hopefully It'll get here soon.

My 620 is setup as Push-Pull with 2x Noiseblocker M12-S3HS 1800RPM fans intaking air from the back of my case.

Getting a 1100T for e-peen would actually reduce your e-peen, because many people, like me, will see that the option you chose was foolish tongue.gif

I think the OPs strategy is sound enough, although Im planning to get a 980BE instead as a holding CPU until AMD gets there act together. They are half the cost of the 8 core FX CPU here in NZ and if you believe most of the benchmarks just as good for gaming with and will still be an improvement over my 555BE.

I did the exact same thing. Picked up a 1100T this morning. It's sittin stable at 4.0 atm. I bought a 1090 a month ago, but couldn't get it to go past 3.8...so I put it in my girlfriend's rig and went back to my 640 @ 3.6
