Which GPU should i get??

Thread Starter
Hi everyone. I recently built a new PC : 2600k @ 4.5
, corsair 850HX,
corsair 600t,
corsair H60 ,
g-skill 8gb 1600mhz ram,
Asus maximus gene-z,
1tb seagate hdd
So this is my new pc and I am looking for a gpu , i am currently running on 2600k integrated graphics. I want to buy a gpu so i can be able to play games like bf3, crysis 2 , microsoft flight, gta etc at decent graphics at 1080. So should i buy something cheap like a 560ti or should i spend a bit more and get a 570. If i get a 570 is it going to last for a couple of years of gaming? I am very confused what should i do?

I'd gladly recommend a 6950 2gb since the extra vram may be useful in the future. Surely a 570 or any other card will last but don't expect max settings once newer games come out. Maybe in a year or two, you'll be down to high or medium for the latest games.

6950 2gb. You will benefit from the 2gb vram if you plan to pay at high resolutions. If you're lucky you might be able to flash it to a 6970.

a 570 or 6970 (or unlocked 6950 if you can find one). though id be getting a 2GB 6970 or 2.5gb 570, as alot of upcoming games (especially bf3) are maxing the vram for some cards, ive seen a few people here had trouble with the bf3 beta on max settings with 1.5gb 580's.

if your really worried about future proofing, spend big and get a 580/590/6990, since unfortionately you cannot go sli/crossfire on a maximus Gene Z

Well with my current budget i can buy a 560ti and maybe even a 570, but if i save a bit more until next month i might be able to get the GTX 580 Lightning. However do you think I should get a 580?Or buy a 560ti just to be able to play BF3 and some other games until kepler comes out? Btw i saw a few people on forums proving that you can sli on a Gene Z(2 slot 580s sli) but i know its not ideal due to air restriction but i am not planning to go sli anytime soon anw.

Knowing what type of monitor your using would help out greatly. A good rule of thumb is get the best single card you can afford. This will let you crossfire or sli in the future when cards are cheaper. Single cards have less issues than multi-card systems.

Well as i mention on my op i use a 1920x1080 led monitor (60hz). Btw that's why i was thinking to save my money and get a 580, but what if in a couple of weeks after i buy a 580 a 680 comes out? Also will i be able to play games with decent graphics for the next couple of years with a 580?

Thanks for the reply btw i appreciate it
