HI all
I just got myself a M4 128GB and has flashed to 000F firmware
The drive is packed with 40GB of data and Win7 OS in total
Using it on Intel Z77 board with AHCI and IRT

Hows my score?

You can do both, it is just not recommended.

A full format runs chkdsk and that writes to the drive some when you really don't need it to, plus SSDs really won't take any advantage from it. Thus not recommended.

An enhanced secure erase is not validated (for lack of a better word) officially. But it shouldn't really hurt. I believe that just uses a predetermined way to secure erase the NAND by the firmware engineers and it is slightly different from drive to drive. And may write more to the NAND than a normal secure erase. It really shouldn't matter much at all lol.

thanks for the fast reply Sean Webster.
I did a full format in windows 7 because i already had a sandforce ssd running
so i plug in the M4 and went to Manage Disk Management to full format it and run a benchmark

After that i restore system image to the M4 but it only works till 120GB due to my system image was created using the 120GB SSD
therefore i use Parted Magic to secure erase it and it told me Enhanced secure erase is supported and recommended so i choose the enhanced

I hope my M4 have no serious damage to it LOL !

Also, make sure you have AHCI enabled.

I switched my SSD's over to the Intel SATA3 and now it is getting proper 500mb speed. That sucks though that the 3rd party SATA3 reduces performance so much. Would I notice a big difference if I had another SSD in the ASmedia SATA 3, which I what I have, in terms of game loading performance?

Hey guy I am looking at getting an SSD and I see that no Newegg I can get the 256GB M4 for $180 Link. I wanted to see if this is a good price? I don't NEED one at the moment but if that is a good price it would be worth picking up. Thanks in advance!

YES! It is an insanely good price. I actually bought one today, haha. Normally a lot of SSD's have a terrible price per GB ratio (Usually $1 per Gb or more).

I bought another 256gb SSD to go with the one for the OS I had. As soon as I put it in I started getting BSODs and freezing. My OS drive was 0309 firmware and the new one that caused all the problems was 000F. I switched the new one to 0309 instead of the 000F that it came with and so far it's been smooth. Anyone else have this issue?
