Thanks.

store pictures movies etc for editing on it?

Put it in another rig, sell it or use it for storage.

Or install an OS on it and put it on a shelf as a backup OS / benchmarking OS etc.

A scratch disk for any media editing or encoding.

Ordered a 64GB m4 last night. Should be posted tomorrow and with my early next week.

I'm going to clone my old SSD and copy it to the Crucial - I've been recommended to use Acronis True Image. Just wondering though, what steps should I do to prepare the drive before copying the image to it? It's a used drive, and I'm not sure if the firmware has been updated or anything.

Definitely update to firmware 0309 when you get it if it hasn't been updated yet.

Besides that there really isn't anything else lol.

Alternatively you can use clonezilla, Easus ToDo backup, or maybe even the built in Windows 7 system image tool.

Hey I got an M4 64gb at christmas but has since died, I cant seem to enter the part number on the UK rma service website, keeps saying error when looking up the code. Has anyone dealt with the UK rma service?

So yeah, I got my 64GB M4 and I was initially planning on running it SRT with my WD Black but thought, "nah, I'll go full out and put Win7 in there."

Pics of the SSD:

450

450

700

Before I installed the OS on the M4, I ran different banchmarks in SRT modes and alone. I thought it was interesting.

Here is the benchmark of my WD Black for comparison
378

WD Black + M4 Enhanced mode SRT
378

WD Black + M4 Maximum Mode SRT
381

As you can see, it REALLY sped up that mechanical hard drive to near SSD levels which is great! thumb.gif

One more test for the M4 alone:
379

After seeing it at full speed, I thought that it deserved to be used properly. Once I finished setup, and rebooted Windows for the first time it totally blew my damn mind. You know when Windows does an update and you have to restart? I HATED that. Now, I encourage it, just so I can Marvell *bu dum pshhh* drum.gif at how fast it restarts. MWAHAHAHA! MORE POWER!!! devil.gif

I think I might install Windows freshly on my m4 when I pick it up from the Post Office (they tried to deliver today, but I was out frown.gif) just so I know that it's going to be as awesome as it can be, rather than copying the old install over.

That is the absolute best option, in my opinion. It'll give you the best performance and you'll enjoy the quickness in which Windows loads. I kid you not, I was at the sign-in screen before the Windows pulsating logo thing fully formed. When I saw that I was like "YESSSSS! SO MUCH WIN!!"
