Should i get a Phenom II X6 1090T or X4?

Thread Starter
I was thinking about buying this processor, but I'm not really sure. I have a code for $15 off any X6 processor at newegg. The processor looks good from reviews i have seen, but i have also seen people say to get an X4. So some advice would be nice .

Ohh and I'm getting and AMD mainly because i have a somewhat low budget. Thanks for the help!

If you have the money for a 1090T go for it! If not the Black Edition Phenom II X4s are very nice processors too.

It really depends on what you will be doing with the processor. If you are mainly gaming I'd go for the X4. If you want to do video encoding or other cpu intensive tasks, I'd go for the X6, the two extra cores will help out a bit there.

to be honest if you have the money and you want to play demanding games like BC2 and BF3 i think you should get the x6.
on the other hand if you got extra $50 you should get Intel CPUs, they are a lot better.

+1. Im in the gaming camp and plan to upgrade to the 980BE instead of my original plan to get a bulldozer.

Just get the Zosma and hope you can unlock it to a 6-core. You're getting a great chip either way.

Well i tend to multitask a lot. I do gaming and i do programming. I do plan on playing demanding games like bf3 and such.

Now I'm also not sure if i should wait though, because i cant get a gfx card at the moment because of money. I planned on waiting till black friday and possibly finding a steal while saving up money. So i wasn't sure if i should do the same for the processor.

Also this is my first custom PC i'm building. I just need to choose a gfx card, CPU, and a motherboard.

Based on your last post, an x6 sounds like the right choice for you. 1090T and overclock it? Sounds like a good idea imo.

Getting 4 core for gaming is not much valid vs 1090/1100t because they can also be overclocked (even can disable cores on some mobos) and you can run a 1090/1100 on x4 980 stock clocks without any voltage (with even turbo core enabled which drops all cores to 800 when idle )

I personally enjoy having the raw extra power of my 1090t. At 4.0Ghz and Xfired cards it seems to play most games fine. Although I have also heard a lot of good things about the X4's.
