Graphics card for gaming at 1080p?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, so basically I want to know what the best graphics card for gaming in 2D at 1080p is. The games I play are FPS so will be getting BF3, MW3 etc.

When I say best I mean within reason, so not 4 x 580s just for the sake of it. I want to be able to max out up and coming games with 50+ fps.

Thanks in advance!

From what I have heard and seen on the nvidia website, a graphics card that is the GeForce 560 ti, 570, 580, 590, along with the 6950 (1 and 2 gb), 6970 and 6990 are recommended to play BF3. I too will be up there with the cool FPS games when I build in January, and I'm probably going with a 6950 or a 560 ti/570. You can get 550 ti and 6870, but even in SLI/Crossfire they are considered to be pushing the limits when playing BF3.

Gtx 570 is a great buy, my friend has one and he loves it! i have a gtx 580 and i was really impressed with the frames i was getting at ultra. with AA at x2 and AF 16x i was getting constant 55fps with dips in to the low 40's in certain parts. with out AA i was getting 58 low 50's constant. not sure how the amd cards fair i would say just as good 6950 is a great card as well!

The GTX570 and Radeon 6970 got pretty similar results in benchmarking I believe. Except the 6970 has 2GB of VRAM compared to the 570's 1.25GB. Although there is an EVGA 570 with 2.5GB of RAM.

I'm sure many people have their opinions but in my opinion whichever you can get for cheaper and/or you think is more aesthetically pleasing of the two you should go with.

Or do some research on the games you're going to play...some games play better on nVidia compared to AMD and vice versa.

I would recommend either of those because GIGABYTE and ASUS are both Excellent manufacturers that use high grade components along with their great customer service. LOL, come to think of it, the HQ's are next door to each other (ALMOST)
