WASD vs. Daskeyboard

both will be chosen in brown switches. Currently, im using a $10 walmart Logitech keyboard that I bought 2 years ago. It is unbelievable that the lettering on this keyboard still looks as new as the day I bought it without any fade. But it is still a cheap rubber dome and feels like such. I have never spent nowhere near as much money as I'm planning to spend right now. My friends would laugh at me if they found out I was trying to buy a $120+ keyboard. (but what the hell do they know about quality!)

First, WASD is $120 total shipped but I have no clue about the build quality of it, but i'm sure it is good. But I hear that the cord is only 4 ft or something like that? Daskeyboard is probably top notch in quality through and through but it is $135 and also free shipping. But then again, the Das looks super sexy IMO and i'm sure it'll be thoroughly enjoyed. What would you guys recommend?

I suggest also taking a look at filco's and leopold keyboards, though i personally have a das. Das is good looking, but you need to take good, constant care of it (the gloss is a flippin dirt/dust magnet. However I got a nice 24% student discount...so if you can get that then the Das would be better, otherwise, personal preference.

one reason i didn't consider Filco's is its really high price tag for a plain keyboard. is it better quality than the das?

I've not used a das but I can assure you the quality of a Filco is second to none, it is very heavy, very sturdy and you don't get the fingerprint issue wink.gif

You might look at the Leopolds from elitekeyboards.com.

99% of the quality of a Filco with the same switches and a $109 price tag. Was $89 just a few days ago, though.

I have a daskeyboard with blues, it feels pretty sturdy and has a great overall feel to it, but as timmy stated, you tend to get fingerprints on it. However, washing your hands before using it will prevent a majority of the smudges. I also clean my keyboard every week, so the gloss finish isn't a problem. Unfortunately, I can't tell you anything about the WASD.
