[MPC] Western Digital Now Expects Flood Damage to Have "Significant Impact"... - Page 6

Yeah, this basically really sucks for those of us selling and fixing computers. My wholesale prices have already shot up, in some cases I have seen 30% higher prices and they won't be shipping drives for three months.

Yup, this sucks.

I looove my WD HDDs..... heck.. last weekend, after an error scan, 5 had *truckloads of bad sectors.. 4 were still in warranty (I always buy 5yr warranty HDDs)

no biggie right?

I have to send all 4 HDDs to SINGAPORE (my local: Australia) which will set me back $80

WD? ***NEVER AGAIN***

helllloooo hitachi!

Only problem I'm having is my HDD gets so little usage it's always powered down so it takes a moment for programs to load off it when I start them

I actually hear it click on, and there is an abnormal pause before programs load off it... I think it's because it's powered down, it could be dying though

I think I can fix that, but it's probably for the best since I only have a three year warranty so the life expectancy is probably only 3 1/2 years.

Whew, the Samsung plants are unaffected by this flood. Glad that there are nearly a dozen HDD manufactures world-wide.

Nah, that's normal. Happens with almost all OSs.
