Gpu for BF3 @1360x768

Thread Starter
Hi there green fellas biggrin.gif!

I'm getting a new rig and a new gpu with it.
Now my question is: what do i need to run BF3 maxed out on 1360x768?
I know you need at least a 580 for 1080p, but i can't find any info on what you need for my resolution. My current rig has 5770/6770 crossfire which is great performance for the money, but not without it's problems (for instance, the 5770 is slightly faster than the 6770 for some reason). The cards will get a new home and will not be used in the 2500k rig i'm planning to buy.

I want at least 5770 xfire performance with a single card (not against 2 cards in sli but it'll have to bet a lot better), but the problem is... i have absolutely no idea how 5770 xfire performs. The 1090t won allow them to run 100% in most games (it's mostly 40-60%). It's not that the 1090t is a bad cpu, it's just that games don't care how many cores it has. Obviously i won't have this bottleneck with a 2500k.

I'm pretty sure i'm not the only one gaming on a TV so this question might apply for more guys on this forum. Btw i prefer nvidia, not just because i want something different this time, but because nvidia cards seem to run slightly better than their ati counterparts on low res (has been like this for several years). I could be wrong about this though.

Thanks drunken.gif

Your so lucky you don't have to run at a high resolution smile.gif Honestly, the best you can get for the price is finding a used 5850/5870. No possible multi-GPU driver conflicts, and is basically twice the power of two 5770's (assuming perfect scaling).

a GTX 590 for 60fps @that rez ..... tongue.gif

jk, what's ur budget? I'd shoot for:
Red poo camp: 6870, 5870 (both might be overkill)
Green goo camp: GTX460 (1GB version)... etc.
(if u can get 'em used, even better and cheaper)

Before sli worked for Crysis 2 a single 460 was running crysis at 1920x1080 max settings at above 60fps (98% of the time).

However with DX11 & High res textures now, it takes both my 460's to stay about 60fps (98% time).

If I add Maldo's textures on top of that I get between 40-50fps.

I recon battlefield the final product will need about the same as crysis 2 with all the extras So if you want all the eye candy even at your res I reckon you'll need a 570 to be on the safe side if your going green.

Thanks for all the answers !

I think the absolute max here would be the 570 so that would put my budget at about 300 euros. Not sure if there is a good sli setup available for 300 euros.
The 460s look nice though, would 460 in SLI match a 570? (not sure how much they go for here in holland)

About the 5870, i'm not sure if that's as good as 2 5770s because the 5770s are pretty much the easiest cards to overclock, you can get a 100mhz oc for free.
Don't know how well 5870s overclock. 6950 seems a bit overkill, i don't think ill ever use the 2gb of memory (which i'm guessing is a huge part of the price tag).
If the 560ti compares to a 6950, might be better off with that. I don't need that much memory and a 560ti is about 20% cheaper. But i don't think the 560ti is the best price/perf...

edit: 2x460 costs slightly less than a single 570 here. How does a 6870 compare to all of this? It's about the same price as one 460 here.
