So AMD didn't include something? They shouldn't have shipped it that way. That's what their QA and QC are for at their facilities.

Want to do them a favor and include it in their packaging? Have the courtesy toward your paying customer to inform them of why it was opened. Print it out on the invoice, or a 2nd piece of paper that's put in the shipping box.

Like I said...imagine buying underwear from a website and it coming opened. Are you really going to want to wear them?
If you're relating open underwear to open hardware boxes then you have a gross overly intimate relationship with your hardware. If I bought something from newegg and the seal was broke I'd take 2 seconds to inspect the condition of the items and make sure that everything was there. If AMD had a insert that listed specs that are not accurate, or included a coupon for a free water cooler kit that they do not want to distribute I have no problem with them asking the retailer to remove them vs shipping every single cpu back to the factory for a seal.

Seals are the only thing the consumer really has to determine if its new or not. To me it sounds like the conversation was like this:

AMD: We forgot to include this note. I DEMAND you open the cpu carton and shove it in there and not tell the customer about this, or I no longer want my product sold in your store.

Newegg: *gulp* ok.
As bad as it may sound, that's how I've had to deal with companies in the past when I worked at a distributor.

Prime makes it awesome. It's like overclocking Amazon to get better shipping speed.

[sarcasm] Yes I am. I want to see those badges for myself and I am going to check the pixels and shadowing for photoshopping, and if I don't see any, I'm going to hunt them down on EBAY and stick it all over my case and take it to a LAN full of intel fanboys! [/sarcasm]

you can report me for improper tagging in my last post thanks!

I'm gonna start looking at Amazon more. I even noticed that Newegg's prices are not as competitive with TigerDirect anymore, i.e.- Newegg used to be cheaper on everything.

Oh well.

Amazon Prime is the way to go. Newegg is still ok but they have been slacking lately.

I had my HAF 932 shipped next day air from Las Vegas to Virginia for $4 thanks to Prime It ended up being cheaper than Newegg and their $20-25 shipping.

Yes, I kiss my gaming rig goodnight every night...

Okay...you get a new model motherboard from Newegg. Seal is broken. Nothing in there seems to be missing.

How do you know something isn't missing from the package? Newegg doesn't have the images up yet of what's included. Now you have to go call or chat them.

They could very easily setup a print to come out with an invoice to put in each box that there is an FX CPU on the order.

BTW, the underwear example was just to show you...how do you know if it's used or not when you get it.

Not that I stick my Phenom II under my belly button every morning.

Jeez...you folks really do seem content to get opened items. You're giving me a complex now.
