Beter to pick the 2500k then the 1090T? ( Also incuding motherboard choice )

Hi people smile.gif

Before I start this has nothing to do with AMD beeing bad I just want to have a nice PC biggrin.gif

So I first wanted to go for the following system:
- AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
- ASUS Crosshair IV Formula
- 2x HD6870
- Corsair 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit
- XFX 650W XXX Edition

But after some discussion people advised me to buy the 2500K, So I ended with this:

- ASUS Maximus IV GENE-Z
- XFX 650W XXX Edition
- Corsair 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit
- 2x HD6870
- Intel® Core™ i5-2500K

They sad to me that it would be a better match for this kind of rig, like not having any bottleneck. I would like to know wish one I should pick and if there is anything I have to take a look at like the power supply. Just so you people know this 2500k choice is my maximum budget! smile.gif

I do already have a 6870 here so advising a Nvidea will not help.
I hope some Intel people can help me out smile.gif

Great choice if you're using it for gaming the i5 2500k should serve you better. Its even better than the 1100T, the only things the 1100T pulls slight ahead of in heavy multi-threaded applications.

Great choice, just pick up a an aftermarket cooler and OC that thing and it will fly biggrin.gif

That i5 setup is looking good.

Go with the 2500K Intel set up!
But that's a micro ATX Motherboard. If you're going to crossfire two 6870's, you really need to be looking at a full size ATX board as you will struggle to fit 2 cards and if you do, there will be very little room between them, leading to overheating issues.

2500k all day. you'll be much happier with the performance and OC capability, and yes you will need a different mobo. aim for something with 2 x16 slots ideally, even though x8 will only show a 1-2% peformance drop

This motherboard is popular and has good support on here if you are overclocking or run into any other problems: http://www.alternate.nl/html/product/Moederborden_Socket_1155/ASUS/P8P67_PRO_-=Rev.3.1=-/554339/?tn=HARDWARE&l1=Moederborden&l2=Intel&l3=Socket+1155

The Asus is a good board and I'd go for that over the MSI. MSI boards are lacking in LLC, which comes in handy when overclocking.

Yeah I like ASUS more smile.gif.

Well I checked a unboxing and reviews of that board you send me and I will take that one biggrin.gif!, It has hyper threading? something like that redface.gif.

And that powers supply still is good? Even now that I changed the MB and CPU? biggrin.gif
