Thoughts On My Planned Intel Gaming Rig

Thread Starter
Looking to put together a new gaming rig within the next little while. I play COD4 regularly and will also be playing BF3 and MW3 when they come out. I have put together the following and would like some opinions on the parts and/or suggestions that you have to improve the build.

Case: Corsair Obsidian 650D
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K
GPU: MSI GTX 570 Twin Frozr III
PSU: Corsair AX850
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB

Undecided
MB: Needs to support SLI. Been looking at the ASRock Extreme3 Gen3 and the Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z

SSD: Looking for a good performing 120 GB SSD with good speeds

Memory: A good performing 8GB kit will do.

I game on a 1920x1080 monitor. What do you guys think about what I've put together so far? Any alternatives for the GPU and PSU or are those solid choices? Thanks for the help guys.

If you're not going to be getting a second 570 then go with a 650w PSU. There is nothing wrong using that PSU but you'll not be putting it under much pressure so it won't be ver efficient.

I'll fill you in on the i5 system I'll be building soon... after tons of research.

MB: Asrock Extreme 4 Gen 3

SSD: Crucial M4 << the fastest reliable SSD out there that's not also going to require that you sell an organ

Memory: Corsair Vengeance PC12800 CL7

I agree with the first guy who responded... your psu is way overkill and may not run efficiently as a result. GPU looks good.

I wouldn't go with an M-ATX board either.

So go with the ASRock board.

If you wanted to have a look at another board then the ASUS P8Z68 board.
