I would seriously go with a Radeon HD 6950 for a graphics card if you are willing to spend $250 on a 560 ti. The 560 ti is drastically better than the 5770 though in terms of performance, but, at the moment NVidia has driver issues on the AMD platform so you may encounter lower than expected frame rates. Even if you encounter driver issues the 560 ti should have much better frame rates than the 5770.

amd phenom ii? should run a 5770 or a gtx 560 ti fine, but there's no point in getting a 5770 if you're using a 29 inch tv lol

HD6950 and GTX 560 TI are in same price range, but remember HD6950 performs better than GTX 560 TI also you can unlock it to the next level ... After unlocking HD6950 and overclocking both of them you'll see 7-10% increasement.

Imo a GTX 460/ 560 (non-ti) is best card that doesn't need a good CPU to utilize it. Also, stay away from SLI/Crossfire.

But if you OC your CPU, then 560Ti should be fine! Can the newer 6950s still be unlocked?

The card has to be a 2GB version I believe, there is a list that has success rates.

Also the 560ti currently crushes ppd of the 6950 if you are at all into Folding.

If you want to unlock a 6950, your best bet is the Sapphire 6950 Toxic. At that price point though ($270 I think) I'd rather be looking at a GTX570. Or you could always buy a used reference 6950 off ebay or the forums. Honestly though the benchmarks have shown only about a 1-3% increase from shader unlocks. The main boost is from OCing the 6950, so if you can't unlock it isn't a huge deal.
