New rig for BF3

Thread Starter
Hi guys,
I'm switching back from console to PC. I'v been out of the the game to long and I don't have an idea what to use to build a good rig for BF3.
What I do like is an eyefinity setup.
I have found some components on the internet, can you guys help me out and give me some thoughts about it?

Many thanks!

Corsair Graphite 600T Special Edition
Intel Core i7 2600K Boxed
Asus ROG Maximus IV GENE-Z
Asus EAH6970 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5
Cooler Master Silent Pro M850
Corsair Vengeance CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B
Corsair Hydro Series H100
Corsair Force 3 120GB
Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ, 1TB
Samsung SH-B123L/BSBP

For an eyefinity setup you are gonna need more gpu power. Though that depends on how good of settings you want to use. If on a budget get a 2500k they have the same if not better performance in games and are about 100 cheaper. This will allow you to put more money into gpu power.

Just a thought idk if you like ati better but you might wanna get 2 580 gtx's for 3 monitors
Also i believe the min amount of gpus for any 3 monitor gaming setup is 2.

Look how the 6970 and 580 gtx face off in bc2 at high res http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/03/14/asus_engtx580_eah6970_directcu_ii_review/8

What the guy above me said, a single 6970 will die in BF3 on eyefinity, get a 2500k and try to invest in 2 GTX 580s.

Thanks Fatalrip and Thryack, any suggestions what type of 580?
I will start gaming with 1 monitor and when saved some more money 3 monitors and if neccesary an extra graphics card.

If I need an extra 580, is 850watt power supply suffcient?

Here is 2 and why they would be good
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121429
better cooling in most cases (bigger though)

Amazing warranty and service (my personal favorite company have had them replace cards registered by someone else without even knowing their info)

Yes a a 850 watt is ok for 2 580s though since you havent bought it yet might wanna throw another $ 30 or so at it and get the step up from corsair for some wiggle (overclocking) room

Is it worth the money to go for MSI N580GTX LIGHTNING?
It is a little bit more clocked and cooled.
The lightning is a very good card. (don't pay too much attention to the clocks though as you can overclock the card yourself in which case the asus i linked and the lightning would be ones that would probably clock the highest though there is some amount of luck involved in getting a good ocing card)

On a side note if you were thinking of selling it in the future the lightning would probably have the highest resale value.

Thanks Fatalrip, what do you think of 16Gb of memory? is it over rated?
Is 8 Gb enough, in terms of money it's not a big deal.
8gb will suit 99% of the populations needs ( i use like maybe 60-70% max while running a game and some active programs in the background)
If you can keep it to two sticks (will help your overclock potential) and the money difference is low there is no reason to not get 16, people were saying 4 is all you will ever need a few years ago. Why not be ahead of the curve.
