U2412m or U2410?

Thread Starter
I've been looking to upgrade from a smaller monitor to a nicer monitor with 1920x1200 resolution. Its mostly for general usage, but i do gaming every now and then. I've been looking between those 2 monitors since theyre led backlit and IPS. I know NEC makes good ones too but from what i've seen theyre $5/600+?

So whats the difference between these 2 dell monitors? From the looks of it one has better color accuracy which im assuming is aimed towards professionals? Any recommendations are welcome.

The U2410 has more ports, better color accuracy and a wider color gamut...course you pay a fair bit more for the U2410 than the U2412M. The U2412M is still a very good IPS monitor (a little less fussy for me since I don't have to deal with the 2410's wide color gamut). U2412M can be found for as low as $300 (I bought mine at $320) vs usually $500 for a U2410. Basically it comes down to how much the price difference is and how much you value the extra ports and colors and if they're more or less than the price difference between a 2410 and a 2412m

The UltraSharp U2410 is not LED backlit; it is CCFL.

Along with the above, the UltraSharp U2412m supposedly has better contrast/Blacks, better response time, and less input delay.

They are the same size, and the updated version is still 1920x1200.

Both are IPS, but one is 6-bit w/FRC compared to 8-bit w/FRC, but other than that, I'd say everything else seems to be in favor of the UltraSharp U2412m. The one exception I am unsure of is if the UltraSharp U2412m is LED backlit, as some don't prefer that.

I haven't seen one, but I will say all the advantages sound good, as the contrast, Black levels, and response time (ghosting) of the UltraSharp U2410 leave some to be desired, although it's by no means terrible. I wish I could see/use a UltraSharp U2412m next to mine to see how it compares.

It looks like it can be bought for $320 with a $80 coupon right now...I also checked their website for "higher education" and its $280. Do you have to do anything to prove that you go to college or whatever?

Went from a 120hz panel to the U2412m and haven't looked back. Love these things.

The reason I held off on the U2410 is because of the input lag and the wide color gamut. I heard it makes "game mode" look weird as well. The contrast on these are pretty solid and the brightness at default settings of 75 is wayy too high. For the price they look incredible though.

Coming from someone to moved to hers from a CRT, the input lag wasn't much of an issue at all actually. Sure, I noticed it at first, but then I very quickly adjusted, and I can move between a CRT and this one and hardly notice. It was more the response time/ghosting that was.
