3-way sli gtx 570 hd 2560mb

Thread Starter
Hey guys, getting a new rig for... you guessed it!!! bf3 -.-

anyways... i'm looking to venture into the world of 3d surround, or even just surround atm tbh, will be buying 120Hz monitors either way.

wanted to know how well the evga gtx 570 hd 2560mb runs surround?
is it good enough for Battlefield 3 in 3-way sli? I really can't afford 3x gtx 580 3Gb's and i've seen benches in where even that set-up struggles in BF3 for surround (ultra ofc).

and i know this is an nvidia subforum but be honest guys if the amd 7000 series is released before christmas would i better sticking with what i have till then?

I would say the added memory on the 570 HD's will help a lot in surround gaming.

Will they run at full 60fps on 5760x1080? SLI might not 3-way SLI might do.

Anyways, I don't think you can ever do a steady 120fps to take full advantage of your monitors. At least not for now.

As for the AMD cards, they will release the low-mid mid-mid tier first, which is what you've been hearing around. The "real" performance babies (79xx GPU's) do not have a steady release date yet I think.

The cooler on the HD is not a very good cooler at all, those cards will run hot and loud especially 3 of them sandwiched together. I think I would get two reference 3Gb 580s (either EVGA or Zotac) and add a third later if you feel the need or want to do so.

Back up what juano says, going with the 3gb 580s is probably the best option here.

Especially since there's no watercooling solution for the non-reference 570s AFAIK.

Sure there are. wink.gif

And the blocks themselves:

Considering that the 570 is not that far behind a 580, in general, Tri-SLI with those 570's for Surround would be a good choice. Plus, they're cheap enough where it would still cost more for three aircooled 580's compared to three water cooled 570 HD's. thumb.gif
