GTX560 stuck @ 925MHz

Thread Starter
So I wanted to post this to get some advice.

I'm currently running my Asus ENGTX560 (non-ti) @ 1.025V (stock) @ 910MHz (850MHz stock). Basically I'm using OCCT to test my card for stability. Anything over 925MHz core and I start to get errors. I'll up the volts from 1.025 @ 925Mhz all the way upto 1.086V @ 930MHz and I'll get errors. Seems that I cannot get over 925MHz without errors on OCCT, no matter the voltage.

I can run unigine heaven @ 950MHz with something like 1.075V. I don't notice any artifacts and I can run that on a loop 3-4 times without a driver crash or artifacts.

Just wondering if anyone else has had experience with OCCT finding errors in an OC and just ignoring it basically?

Its not memory overclock either, if someone suggests that. I've tried the overclock with no mem OC and with it, same issue with errors in OCCT.

I'm getting a new huge 92x25mm fan this week for my DCII. Hopefully gonna knock off a good 3-5C from the max temp. Hopefully should add to stability.

925 is a really good OC for a 560 isnt it?

I see 560ti's getting to 1GHz, its the same chip just some CUDA cores disabled...
If the 560 is the same as a 560Ti, then the stock clock should be 820Mhz. You say your getting 925Mhz? That's a 105Mhz oc? Pretty respectable. If you NEED more, try upping the vdc slowly to see if you can get it stable. My cards go from .95vdc at idle to 1.06 & 1.08 at load. I've given 'em +50mv on top of this to get to 1029Mhz, and you may have to press the envelope a little bit to get the oc you're looking for. Water cooling may be the route you need.

Try letting heaven run for 20-30 minutes and see if it crashes. I would trust it more than OCCT. Look to stay around 1.087V on the stock air cooler.

Just so you know. the 560 and 560ti are 2 way different chips... the 560 is basically a gtx 460 with a slightly higher clock speed...
Which would explain why you can only get 925 mhz as your overclock(still respectable.)

The 560ti is a complete redesign of the core with more included CUDA cores.

Not really. They have about the same OC headroom as a GTX 560 Ti.

Wrong. Both the GTX 560 and GTX 560 Ti are based on the same GF114 chip (vs. GF104 for the GTX 460). The GTX 560 has one streaming multiprocessor disabled (seven instead of eight), but that doesn't affect OC capability. Both the GTX 560 Ti and GTX 560 should hit anywhere from 950 Mhz to 1000 Mhz on average with stock voltage. The OP just has a poor sample where overclocking is concerned (and that can happen with any GPU). My single fan EVGA has no problem hitting a stable 955 Mhz. The ASUS DirectCU, MSI Twin Frozr or Sparkle Calibre GTX 560s with their more capable HSF should hit upwards of 1000 Mhz on stock voltage.

Even if they were the same chip 135 Mhz (between the GTX 560 and GTX 460) isn't "slightly higher".

I dont know about on stock voltage, but they should reach the 900 range easily.
