FrozenCPU Review (done with them)

Well, this was going to be a good review, but instead this is a mixed review ending on a bad note. I read all the bad reviews, and not really of any good reviews, but these guys were on the East coast so I wanted to take a chance. I heard worse about performance-pcs so this was the lesser of two evils. They ****ed up right off the bat but I believe in second chances, and as you see I gave them quite a few, but in the end, a company that does not stand behind their products is not a company I want to do business with.

Day 1 9/29/11 first and second order:

Ok cool, compiled this order to start off with to see how it went. It was cool, called the guys up to verify I was ordering everything correctly cause I ordered 1 RAM-33 when I ment to order 4, it was all good, they added on the other 3 and verified I had all the correct fittings. Great experience.

10/7/11 - I get home from a business trip in NYC, the order was sitting at Fedex for a few days. I drive two hours to Fedex to pick it up and take it home, and I'm missing my Koolance pump/res and they packed someone elses fittings in its place. So it's the weekend and their closed so I talk about it here and send them an email wondering why they never called me about it.

10/09/11 - I get this lovely email from the owner

----------------------------------

Hi greg

Yes we saw your flame at overclock. Your 980bk i believe was shipped from koolance directly.

I will get you tracking tommorow

Order #: 0365004. I’m missing my koolance rp-980bk. Received everything else though. Not the greatest first impression for a company that charges more than their competition.

Since you have to ship me the koolance anyways, I’d like to buy http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10...?tl=g30c95s929 and the cheapest ¼” compression fittings I can get for it too. Would be nice to get free shipping out of this deal…

Call me to get a payment method @ XXX-XXX-XXXX.

Thanks.

-------------------------------

10/10/11 - I get a call from Bucky (pretty cool guy), and he explains to me that koolance probably drop shipped the missing pump/res to me and thats why they knew nothing about it. (but then later in another conversation for order #4 tells me he will ship the koolance pump/res directly to me, makes no sense but whatever okay as long as I get what I paid for) So I give them another chance and order more parts just to see how this will go.

10/14/11 - HORRAY my pump is FINALLY here. I hook it up, test it out, and its pissing all over itself. Seriously!? I wait again thru the weekend...

10/17/11 & 10/18/11 - I call up Bucky to see what we can do about this broken koolance pump/res. Bucky tells me they can't do anything about it and that I have to send it back to koolance for RMA (I'm in NC, Koolance is in Cali, we are talking 12+ more days this crap has to go on) so I say "Can't I just out right buy another koolance res/pump from you, you can ship it out today, and I ship the broken one back to you and you give my money back and handle all the bs yourself?" and he says no because they can't do anything about it. (***? A company that doesn't stand behind their products? WOW that says a lot!)

So I call Koolance and they continue to give me the run around, till eventually I say "Well can I just buy this better model (RP-1200 that I just happened to see while shopping for the replacement) for $300 and ship you the broken one and you can refund me the difference?" and the RMA guy (James) says yea he thinks its okay to do that. So I out right buy a more expensive $300 item right then with him on the phone and he says everything is okay. 10 minutes later I get an email saying my order was cancelled and they can't cross ship, ***?

So I call James at Koolance back to ask whats up and he says management said it was not okay to do that process because the refund would be less than what frozenpc paid for the item. Wow at this point I'm at my wits end and I could choke a hooker till shes dead. So I say ok lets just get Bucky on the phone with us. So we are now all 3 way convo on the phone and a good 10 minutes of trying to explain that I just want my money back for the broken part and I want a new GOOD part here in less than 12 days, they finally come up with this master genius plan of me sending the broken part back to koolance, koolance THEN (when they get it) sending a new part to frozen, and THEN I FINALLY get my refund back. (Gee I wish I had thunk up that idea...after the 3rd time I told it to them when we went thru at least 6 different ways to play this scenario!) I then place another $300 order AT koolance (again) which so far has not been cancelled. So just to fix this, it's taken over $600, 4+ hours of my time, and a world of a headache JUST to get a pump/res. Lets see if I get it in less than 12 days.

As a business owner that builds custom computers for people, I don't understand a company that doesn't stand behind it's products. I don't give out "1 year warranties" but I do tell people that buy my computers "if ANYTHING in 30 days goes wrong with a computer I build that is covered under the manufacturers warranty, I will come pick the computer up, and take care of the problem FREE no questions asked" instead of saying "Oh ****, I delivered that computer and the sound on the motherboard doesn't work? Oh well you should ship it back to Intel, maybe they can replace it under their warranty."

I know I would lose a LOT of business if I did that!

You would think this company could simply do something similar especially for an item that was never even used (since it arrived broken) and allow it to be shipped directly back to them and even cross ship (even if it had to be paid for) an item back.

I could understand if something happened outside of like 30 days then hell yea make the customer ship it directly back to koolance, but this wasn't even a day!

So far I'm not a happy customer. Hence my other thread of trying to find a GOOD vendor that won't pull the **** that has happened here

Hope all the other members here at Overclock.net can benefit from this thread..

Sucks that I had almost the exact same experience as this guy

Same here, FrozenCPU is a mess. Once my friend ordered from them and while I told him not to, I thought hey? Why not give it a go? Well, They played the "runaround" game for weeks and he finally got his money back after he never received his 2 radiators. I just hope no one has to experience this.

That sucks. I've never had a problem with any watercooling e-tailer (frozencpu, performance-pcs, aquatuning, jab-tech, and sidewindercomputers) each with around 4-5 orders at ~$200+. I suppose I'm rather lucky compared to some. Just feel like you got the short end of the stick. IMO none of the e-tailers have a great reputation since they're return policies are complete garbage, but that's why I always cross my fingers for amazon to have it since it can be returned for any reason practically free of charge.

While I don't watercool I also have ordered various parts from frozencpu, performance-pcs, and sidewinders. All of them had speedy deliveries and no missing parts.

That sucks man. I consider myself very fortunate I've never had to deal with this kind of thing but every time I see or hear about it it really makes me wish one of the major retailers would stock this stuff. Sure the convenience of online ordering is nice, but there's something to be said for holding an item in your hands before you decide to purchase it.

I don't mean to belittle your experience, but it sounds like most of your problem is Koolance, not FrozenCPU. Many companies have agreements with wholesalers that don't allow them to return damaged parts from customers. EVGA is one example that, other than Fry's, Newegg, and Amazon, you can't return their parts to the resellers. You must return them directly to EVGA for RMA. Koolance may have a similar policy, which is what prevents FrozenCPU from doing anything about it.

Yes, I understand your frustration in the beginning for getting the wrong parts, and then receiving a broken pump. But you come out of the gate attacking FrozenCPU like they intended to deceive you. Mistakes happen. I've done business with them for years, and I've had more then my fair share of mix-ups. But a polite phone call gets it fixed expeditiously every time.

As a business owner, you should understand that the shop/customer relationship is not a one-way street. You need your customers as much as they need you. If you have a customer that is being a hassle or making demands that are outside your policy, then you won't deal with them, because the cost is worse than the benefit. You don't exist solely to please your customers. You exist to provide a service and make money doing it. If it isn't profitable to kowtow to your customers, why would you do it?

I only deal with suppliers that I can send the part directly back to them, and suppliers that are willing to cross ship even if it means paying twice for an item (or in this case 3 times). Guess I should have read their terms before I gave them a chance. I think this thread would get VERY interesting if a higher up rep from Koolance and the owner from FPC BOTH came into this thread to discuss how they could make their customers happy in this situation because I'm sure there are a lot more people who don't like that method of theirs. I really think that would put a positive light on both companies if they made that effort.

I'm not trying to attack anyone. I'm giving my review of my experience. They did make the mistake (whether intended or not due to being out of stock while saying they had stock or whatever reason caused it) of telling me they drop shipped the item to me, then telling me they were now finally shipping me the pump (11 days after being ordered). Mistakes do happen hince why I kept ordering and giving more chances. If this thread doesn't show how patient of a man I am, I don't know what will.

There is a difference between the people you just can't make happy and being able to go the extra mile to make the customer happy and think outside of the box. You make a guy wait 11+ days to get his pump, then you want to make the guy wait another 12+ days to get his replacement? As an owner I would have tried to figure out a better method to prevent this from happening to future clients. I believe we all know how picky people get when they have to wait nearly a month for a part and the owner of FPC probably saw this coming a mile away and I have no idea why he hasn't tried to fix this process.

Wow, sorry to hear you guys have had such bad experiences with them .

I've ordered from them a few times in the past and have always had great experiences. Although I've only ordered fans and miscellaneous cables.
