Lower CPU Fan Speeds - Sabertooth 990FX

Thread Starter
So I have my stock cooler for my 1090T hooked up to the "CPU-FAN" plug on my Sabertooth 990FX and I has the fan running at ~5000 RPM's and it LOUD!!! I can hear it running on the other side of my house. My CPU temp is only ~28 C but it still won't decrease the speed.

I can't find anywhere in the BIOS to change the fan speed. I have also tried using SpeedFan but had no luck with it either, it controlled all of my case fans but not my cooler. Does any one have any suggestions? confused.gif

The CPU fan is often controlled directly by the BIOS. Look in your BIOS settings for a CPU fan speed control.

Worse case is you could plug your CPU fan into a case fan plug.

enable CnQ (CoolnQuiet) if present in BIOS. then Speedfan should let you control fan speed.

I think found a similar setting in my BIOS but I'm not sure. I'm still can't control it in SpeedFan and their are two "FAN1's" showing up and in the choices they are initialized to 0%

Go to the "monitor tab in the bios, scroll to the bottom and set cpu Q-fan to enabled, then set q-fan profile to standard.
It will throttle with temps now.

Good luck

Gyro,

Thanks for the response but unfortunately I had previous tried that and had no luck. I just tried it again and still no luck.

When I installed the motherboard I flashed the newest BIOS which was a beta. Do you think that could be the issue? Should I try and flash an older version of the BIOS? This is really starting to get aggravating.

Have you tried manual?Perhaps the cpu opt fan header?
Or the thermal radar set up in AI suite?

do you have any other cpu fan plug (headers)? have you tried using another?

try a case fan header as a last resort. just keep track of your temp.

All of my normal fan case fan channels are taken up. I am going to try the ASUS Thermal Radar and see if I can't sort it out there. If not I do have a optional cpu fan channel that I can try. thanks rdr!
