No audio output device installed?

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
This just popped up with no apparent cause today, and is stopping my earphones/headphones/speakers from working

What I have done:

Star>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Manage Audio Devices>Playback

- In the window where it should be listing playback devices, it only says "no audio devices installed.

Reinstalled Nvidia Driver 285.38,

Reinstalled the Realtek driver from Asus's site (listed as a driver for my motherboard)

Physically unplugged/plugged in all audio playback devices

~~~
But to no avail, what is normally the volume icon just has the icon with a red X on it, and I get no audio
Go into your BIOS and make sure the onboard audio chip is enabled there.
Thanks, I enabled "extreme OC profile" in the BIOS (ASUS CHV) and apparently that turned disabled the sound chip lol... rep+
