If the games I could have profited on were available at the gamestops near me during the last b2g1 sale it would have made sense as, but they weren't so boo.

That is assuming it comes out this week, which is still an unknown. In the back of my mind I think Verizon will want to have time to market the device to build hype before release, so 15th may be just the start of the marketing campaign.

All of the stores I called over the weekend in a certain area were familiar with the Nexus, several admitting they had at least one "in back", but not familiar enough to know whether it was on sale or not. If the 15th is the real release date, I can bet the outcome will be underwhelming.

The whole thing is a huge cluster eff.

confused.gif lolwut?! because clearly no one has yet to hear of the nexus, there's been zero talk about it and virtually no hype surrounding this phone whatsoever... rolleyes.gif Though I agree in part this whole thing has been a cluster, such as with the bionic and thunderbolt, I can't possible see the result of the nexus being anywhere close to "underwhelming"...

I don't expect much marketing for this device. Verizon doesn't really care about it. Its not full of bloat and its not a Droid. So there will be nothing like you see with the razr where theres a commercial every 5 minutes. FWIW I just called my local corporate store. He said the release is at the end of the week, I said i was concerned about stock if I should come in before work. He said don't worry about it we have plenty of stock back there. biggrin.gif woot.

They heavily marketed virtually all of the Moto Droid devices before release. The only commercial for the Nexus is online on Google's channel. "3" days (with no ads in sight) before release is cutting it close.

I'm not talking about Overclock users, i'm talking about the whole public in general. My parents and sisters say oh, a GOOGLE phone (apple users), but have no idea the nexus is the next "big thing" with the newest OS. They group all of the Google phones together.

Luckily i have a corporate store not 2 blocks away from where I live. I'll swing by quickly during lunch to pick one up.

Thats what I'm saying, the Droid phones get pushed hard, this is not a droid phone, and VZW has much less control with this phone. So there will be much less marketing with this one. There are only 2 bloat apps on this phone. They are both verizon apps. My wifes Galaxy S that is still on the stock rom has a ton. Half of the apps in the phone you can not remove, stuff like Madden 12 and Blockbuster. VZW gets paid for each of those being on there, so those phones are more profitable.

I expect the nexus launch to be more of a soft launch.

I was referring to making an attempt at getting the local best buy to sell me one like the other people who got them early, but it's probably not worth the extra money even if I was able to get one.

It would be hilarious though if you got one and walked into a vzw store and asked about it and got a stern, "No" then pulled it out in front of them. I wonder what they would do about it.
