Just for future reference Derek1387, that cpu in the picture doesnt look too flat judging by the corners...maybe its just the way he took the pic. Regardless when it comes to lapping, you want the flattest surface possible, it doesnt matter how shiny it is.

The shine is just something that comes with it. When you get the CPU, test how flat it is with a craft blade or a stanley knife. You may need to lap it further yourself if its not flat.

Surely an insurance claim wouldnt be honoured using this excuse, unless all claims are just automatically honoured by a computer. No person with an ounce of common sense would accept that excuse.
