5.1 for around $100?

Hey just wondering if there are any good 5.1 set ups for around $100. I was thinking about purchasing this ASUS Xonar card because my budget on that is $50 (my family does this "secret" santa thing, etc, etc, and that's the price limit).

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102017

So I'm just wondering if there are any good 5.1 set ups WITH A GOOD SUBWOOFER FOR AWESOME BASS IF POSSIBLE. I listen to dubstep and electronica a lot, but also to other types of music, so the bass would help a lot .

I'm also willing to settle for 2.1 because 5.1 might be a bit of a hassle for my room set up, but 2.1 isn't. I would prefer 5.1 only if it is used in a lot of games, if not then I'll just go for a 2.1 setup.

Thanks!

.NOPE.
Get a GOOD 2.1 setup. the Klipsh Promedia 2.1 is 100 i think... Maybe more, but im not sure.

I have similar music tastes as you and what i have settled for is Dayton B652, sub120 (Have not ordered yet) and for the rear i used my old 2.1 setup, some Insignia 2.1 thing. Oh and its with a Xonar DG card..

My family does the same thing except 1/2 of us are atheist and 1/2 of use aren't so it's pretty awkward. Everyone gets lots of giftcards to strip clubs, Bass Pro, and occasionally even some nice power tools.

Wish I could offer some insight into the cards though...

Posting because i'm interested in the answer as $50 would probably be my budget down the road as well.

The thing is that I need a PCI Express x1 card because I'm going to be sli'ing in the future with another 460, so that will be covering the PCI slot on my motherboard.

Thanks for the 2.1 recommendation.

I might just end up saving up the money and buying each speaker part by part until I can get my full set up so that I can get 5.1.

Well the sound card is fine - Its better than mine.
And yea i sort of did that, i got the insignia 2.1's from bestbuy for like 70 bucks. I realized they sound like crap, then used an old amp i had + bought these Dayton speakers... now im going to eventually order the sub.

Yeah I found some Logitech 5.1 speakers for like $100 but I then thought they probably sound like garbage. Currently my only "speakers" are my Turtle Beach x11's, which is pretty bad .

I might end up going with 2.1 though because the only reason I would want 5.1 is for games, and I just did a little research and I read that like no games every take that into consideration, so 5.1 would basically be useless unless I was listening to music.

No, games do use the 5.1. I can very clearly tell the difference in CoD.
I would get the 2.1 though, 5.1 at that budget will sound like crap.
I would get these:

It says $164 but i think they go for 100 other places.

Saving up until you have enough for a complete set is a good idea. You'll be happier with it in the end.
