WC in VA8000BNS (Older TT Armor)

Thread Starter
I searched the WC forum for this model but got nothing but, I don't believe I'm the only person that has ever inquired about this. I always just all this case my "TT Armor". I bought this back in 8/8/2006 (I had to look up my newegg purchases LOL).

I was thinking about starting off with a RASA kit (basic rs240) from Frozen CPU (I can take a short trip out to there warehouse ) for my Q6600 and possibly a GTX480. I know this will not be optimal to start, I have my own 4xfans that have decent static pressure according to datasheets and flow close to or over 100CFM. I may add another rad in the future or just replace this one depending on space..

I think my biggest question is is this going to work INSIDE of my case? **I have enough fans for a push pull and I will only consider running this in push pull** I only have one optical drive and fan controller that apparently doesn't work but make the front of the case look awesomer than it already does.Any opinions? I figure if its all internal I can still pick it up and take it somewhere (happens maybe once a year though) and if it were external probably not an option. Does anyone have pictures of water cooling installed in this case? One problem (maybe) is my power supply. I have a PC and power cooling 750Watt PSU and its long. I have not removed the top plastic ofthe top USB sound access but I can and would if need be (I have only used them once. This case has seen a LOT of action over the years so things don't always get plugged in hahahha..)

Side note n00b WC question: Noise does not matter to me very much. I sleep with Nidec Alpha V TA450s and other various dc fans on next to my bed. Do you see any gains from pointing a fan on the blocks themselves in addition to what ever your rad cooling solution is?

EDIT:
Link to newegg's website on this case:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811133163

EDIT: After some lulz I figured might as well get the RX360.

Looks to me like the triple will fit in the front no bother, frozencpu do the lian-le 5.25 rad mounts and you will be able to mount it just like mine is.

No, theres no need in that.

For the rad you can do push pull GT 1850s... since you say that you can stand the noise. Other than that the fans that you have should get a good enough result.

They definitely are cool but not cool but not enough for me to spend 35 on each of them lol. Id make some sort of bracket. If I mount it in the front the bottom fan will pulling air through the hdd cage then pushing on to the rad. The push side seems like it can be done easily but the pull is where I think I'll run into problems here, theres not enough space d for these fans overseen the front facing side of the rad and the actual front of the case. I might mock up some card board boxes later to see.

Hey..

And i thought I was the only one with a Armor from the old days..

I am in process RIGHT now of building my setup (retiring the old) I am going to run a GTX360 w/ scythe Ultra Kaze fans on the radiator, all internal.. Been planning this out for a number of weeks now.. I could have gone to a different case, but I actually like the Armor..
It is getting a few small mods (holes for wires, etc) and a paint job over the next 2 days..

If you are looking for a bracket for the radiator to sit in those drive bays without spending a fortune, look at these.. They worked perfectly for me..

I did not realize the diemnsions of the RX360 rad until I read up on the FAQ:

RX360
Dimensions: 124x63x400mm (WxDxH)

There's no way this can fit with push and pull fans on it anywhere inside of my case.. I guess outside of the case it goes. I'm going to take off the top USB/sound access and the plastic whatever that is and mount the rad there. There are 5/8 OD punched holes on the back of my case below the top fan area next to the PSU. If I use those holes the tube length will be increased. Alternatively I could take the dremel to the case...eh lol.

I just reread my post above... Silly phone, I got very close to saying what I wanted it to haha.

Here, I have some links to photos of my loop in an Armor, they might help. Sorry I can't help much, because I'm on my phone.

240mm in the front and 120mm on the back.

480mm on the top.

Thanks for the pics! Roffulwoffuls....Totally forgot that the HDD cage could be installed beside the power supply. I see you didn't use the rear tube ports, you just drilled into the top of the case then. That's probably what I will end up doing. Did you really need those extra two rads?? Do you know how much they helped in addition to the larger RX unit?

EDIT: Just saw the other set of pics with the rear ports being used. That is probably exactly how I want to set mine up but with a small main rad and less rads, only 1 haha.

If his fans actually move ~100cfm with good static pressure, they'll do a fair bit better than Gentle Typhoon AP-15s. Believe it or not, there are plenty of fans that out-perform Gentle Typhoons, they just have the best noise:performance ratio.

The RS240 with push/pull will outperform an RX240 with just push, if it comes down to deciding between an RX in push and an RS in push/pull for space reasons. With noise not being a concern, a 240mm radiator should handle both of those components, I'd say snag a 240 kit and toss it in the front bays. Out of curiosity, what particular fans do you have?
