my case is a big open box, and blowers are defenitly louder

Well we KNOW the DIRT3 cards have the DUAL BIOS switch, and seem to have around a 30-40% reported successful Un-Locking rate, and they can OverClock pretty well too. And Sapphire certainly has a great reputation and puts out a fairly high quality product for the money. I'd have no hesitation recommending them or this card.

As for PowerColor, I have seen a small handful of people mention the DUAL BIOS switch on at least ONE of the PowerColor HD-6950's as well, and getting it to UnLock, I'm not sure if it's the one you linked though ? The company seems legit and puts out a decent product. I'd rate them just slightly below Sapphire though, and thus you'd really have to be getting a great bargain on this buy for me to say go ahead with them.

I don't think either card would be a BAD purchase, I just think the Sapphire DIRT3 card would be the BETTER purchase, so it's the one that gets my

FYI, I recently purchased 2 of the Powercolor AX6950 2gb and there are 2 different PCB's one longer than the other. They both have dual bios, but only the longer PCB card will unlock shaders and voltage. These cards have different bioses as well as I tried using the same bios (bios form the longer card) to unlock both cards and it bricked the card with the shorter PCB.

What mucks this up so badly ... is that PowerColor offers SEVEN variations on the Radeon HD6950 theme ! SEVEN !
After looking at them ... it appears the PCS++ cards are the ones with the DUAL BIOS & SWITCH on them, as well obviously as the Reference Model.

my post is in reference to model AX69502GBD5-2DH. Judging by the serial number (which I believe includes a date code) the longer pcb card that unlocks is dated July and the unlockable, shorter pcb card dates to September. All else (box, model # sku#)is identical.
