Rate my 955BE OC! ~4.38Ghz with benchs~

First off, what I am aiming for here is the best scores I can get in the benchmarks, and I believe that the benchs I chose are completely CPU dependent. I did use 3DMark06, but I'm only interested in the CPU Score atm. I tried everything I could to get to 4.4+ but to no avail, I tried voltages of up to 1.6125 (BIOS setting, 1.632 according to CPUz), and attempted 199x22 but BSOD'd. 21.5x204 yielded the same result. What I am hopeing to achieve by posting this is to learn somthing, as I am a nub OC'er (only started ~3 months ago). So please let me know what I can do to improve my performance/achieve higher clocks. I can take some criticism, and if I don't understand it now, I can/will learn. Also, I have not messed with anything other than the CPU Frequency; no NB or HT frequency or voltage, and I haven't touched the memory yet. I hav messed with the graphics card, but without much success, and its @ stock settings here. Anyways, heres the applicable gear:

Software:

Asus AI Suite II
CPUz
CoreTemp

Benchmarks:

Cinebench R11.5
3DMark06
SuperPiMod

Hardware:
Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition C3
Asus Crosshair V Formula
Xigmatek Gaia with two Yate Loon High Speed fans @ 100% and some Arctic Silver Ceramique

And heres my settings in AI Suite II:

203x21.5
1.5625V

And my Scores:

SuperPi - 16.146 Checksum - 528E7573
Cinebench - 5.00
3DMark06 - 5798

4379.3Mhz @ 1.5625V peaking @ 60C during cinebench

And some Pics:cheers:

Your voltage is a bit high, that chip might not last so long. But I don't like going over 1.5, mine gets too hot. Good job though, most people have a hard time getting past 4.2 from what I see in people's sigs.

Yeah my voltage is high, but it only sat like this an hour wink.gif my 24/7 OC will be around 4.0-4.2 or something, I will propably aim for <1.5V for that OC.

I would overclock from the bios unless you are benching frozen. Your scores will go up when you get that NB around 2900MHz. Pretty darn good though, well done for a newbie. You might want to consider a bigger cooler as the Gaia is probably holding you back a bit.

Thanks smile.gif I'll try upping the NB, and making changes via BIOS. Will I need to add CPU/NB voltage to up NB? And yes, I would like a better cooler, but as I eventually plan on a WC loop, I can't see spending $50-$80 on higher end air, when I am voltage limited as it is.

I've been at 1.6+ and my CPU is still alive and approaching 3 years.

Yes, usually 1.2- 1.4v on the CPU/NB. Maybe a little more. Also bump the HTT and NB voltages.

Were you able to bench your Athlon at that frequency? or just boot into windows?
