Weird Llano boot problem

Hey everyone, today I went to install an Asus 6770 into my torrent box and am having a hell of a time diagnosing a problem.

What is happening, is that when I pop in the 6770, the system refuses to boot fully. I can tell because the front 180mm fan on my case doesn't turn on and my keyboard and mouse don't light up. If I swap in my 6570 back in, it boots up just fine. It also boots up just fine with no graphics card at all.

I've gone through the bios and played around with every setting it seems and I've tried booting with just the stock settings and the same thing happens when the 6770 is detected. My room mate has a 5770 on basically the same Llano system that I'm running and his works fine with everything stock or oc'd. I copied his bios settings to no avail.

Has anyone heard of this problem? I've had it before when there was no signal to either the onboard graphics or discrete graphics card and that was just getting the setting right in the bios; but I've NEVER ran across this problem of the rig not actually booting properly when a certain video card is installed. Some one give me a hint here!

It could be a BIOS bug, in which case I'd advice you to try to find a newer version and upload it on your board.

Also you could try this: ask your roommate to borrow his rig, disconnect his HDD so you don't corrupt his OS, remove his 5770 and place in your 6770 and see how it goes. If it's a BIOS bug his board should act the same as yours; if it boots on his rig it might be your motherboard has a slight issue.

Thanks for the tip dragosmp. I'll give it a shot after work today. Hopefully I can just update the bios in mine and see if that fixes the problem.
