E5200 Overclock Won't Stick!!

Thread Starter
E5200 running at 2.5Ghz stock.
gigabyte ga-g31m-es2l Motherboard

It's currently running stock 2.5Ghz 200 fsb x 12.5 multiplier.

I tried doing a very small overclock of 240x12.5 = 3.0Ghz

but every time I save and it boots up, everything reverts back to default 2.5Ghz. Why won't it save!??!

I think the CMOS battery is fine, the date and time in the BIOS is correct.

20% OC is by no means small. Start with smaller steps (like 200==>205) and work your way up. Chances are you have to modify other settings but FSB to achieve 240.

This may help

My GF has that CPU and Mobo with the exact overclock settings, it works fine, you dont need to touch voltage but do what dragos said, increase the FSB by small increments first - maybe its just not happy at 3Ghz.

yeah that's not working either 205 fsb. It reverts back to default.

I believe I can reduce the multiplier but the fsb always reverts back to default 200 so then it underclocks.

Am I missing something? Should I be adjusting something else besides just changing the fsb? (even just changing it to 205)
