Koolance blocks corroding after 3 months!

Thread Starter

Only 3 months use, distilled water and 2x silver.

And NX580 block; I have 2 of these in my loop, the other is fine.

Do you think I can continue to use these blocks? Will performance be compromised because of this issue?

Fins are smooth, doesn't appear to be any flaking. The nickel has just worn back...

I would say RMA those suckers. Call Koolance and tell them the issue.

I'm glad I saw this. What does this mean though if you have a corroding block in you system? What exactly happens? Are their any symptoms that show to give you a heads up?

Don't know about symptoms, but I must say my temps on load were a little off.... Otherwise you just need to check and clean them from time to time... Oh and check to see if there is any flaking in your loop.

I've always used a cap full of zerex racing super coolant in my loops to ward off any corrosion.

No, no no no. Do _not_ use any car coolant or whatever. Distilled + silver or distilled + pt nuke.

And to OP, can't see shizz from the pics, they're too small.

Why not?
"Distilled + silver or distilled + pt nuke" has nothing to stop corrosion.

I've been using it for atleast 6yrs now and haven't had any problems, keeps my loops clean anyhow.

And they still sell it at watercooling sites...

I just meant that it might hurt performance and/or looks in the end but I haven't used it, you have. Everyone has their own way of doing WC

Oh and nothing will corrode if your loop consists of copper only.. Atleast in theory )

And OP again, that doesn't look like corrosion, the nickel's just gone?
