Koolance blocks corroding after 3 months! - Page 6

After sending Koolance this email yesterday;

I honestly can not believe how quick you have wiped your hands with this matter. I hope you realize that there are a ton of users that use water & kill coil with Koolance products. I'll make sure there aware that Koolance offers zero support in regards to this issue.

EK has issues but atleast he supports his customers, regardless of the fluid used.

Now if you had honored this claim not only will you still have a loyal customer in me, but you would have me using Koolance coolant aswell. But instead you slap me in the face with this ridiculous warranty policy, and now I refuse to use Koolance and will ensure that everyone out there sees what sort of warranty policy you guys run;

Today they have replied with this;

Hello,

We deferred this warranty issue to management yesterday and they did not seem concerned about the liquid. Therefore, if you would like to send the products back for replacement, please use the address below:

Good to hear that you got an RMA. Though since some others have reported this problem I see this being an exception to the rule rather than the norm.

Though if I can be proven wrong that would be even better!

Nice work on getting them to RMA it for you. I don't seem to have any problems with my Koolance block, but I'm going to keep an eye on it from here on out to make sure nothing happens.

Good to hear it Bad, I'm glad that you didn't let them get over on you like that. Companies customer service these days seem to be going down the crapper.

Customers need to kick these companies in the nuts every now and then to show them who's boss. Not them, but us the general public, the consumer.

op make sure they pay all shipping costs!

On the other note I emailed my friend to see what his KL 460 block is up to after running it after almost a year now with distilled only. I hope he is like to put everything apart and report.

I'm sorry the OP had to go through this ordeal.

On another note:
As a Koolance consumer, I feel obligated to say that my experience with them has been nothing but great thus far. I have ordered over $1,500 worth of product from them for my current water cooling setup and RMA'd more than a few products with nothing other than the usual 10% restock fee associated with each RMA. I even RMA'd two products 10 days past their usual 30 day mark and they still accepted my returns and refunded me accordingly.

In addition, I have never had any problem with discoloration, "rust," coating coming off, etc. on any of my GPU or CPU blocks. Then again, and I reiterate, I never use straight water. Distilled or otherwise, it's still water. When water comes into contact with certain metals, the water will dissociate (break into its constituent elements, hydrogen and oxygen), so you now have free O2 running around, which will bond with certain metals and cause "rust" or even "coating tear." Aftermarket coolant liquid from Koolance, PrimoChill's PC Ice, or the like are compounded differently and have more gel-like properties that are also biodegradable and anti-microbial.

Never have I ever had to use anything other than Koolance or PC Ice liquid in my system. I'm way past the 6 months mark now and the interior of all my blocks look exactly the same way when I put them in.

The WORST thing that has ever happened to me with a Koolance product was when the chrome metal housing that screws to the back of the COV-RP450 pump nozzle housing adapter "popped" off due to the rubber gasket expanding under extreme heat on my GPU loop. That was remedied by getting a higher-grade rubber gasket.

All in all, to each their own but those are just my 2 cents.

Thread Starter
Thanks for all the comments guys.

I have never had issues with any Koolance product prior to this. And dare I say I prob won't have any issue if I decide to use them moving forward. But what is sad is that Koolance do not warrant DW + Kill Coil. Yes I got them to overturn there decision on this occasion but the bottom line is they do not warrant it. What Koolance need to do is really get this message out there cause there are a ton of people using it with their products.

I have got myself some ek blocks in the time being with some EC6. I will be checking the blocks periodically.
post #60 of 246
Its funny how koolance rejected their product warranty because OP used water + silver. Yet some aboard this forum cry and make a big deal about EK nickel products. Regardless whatever liquid/fluid you used with EK nickel product it did not void your warranty, no only did it not void your warranty but EK was happily to assist in RMA w/o trouble. Top it off EKdevelope better products for consumers.

I think you guys should cry about koolance poor products and warranty. So OP might get chance to obtain a new gpu block when KOOLANCE realize customers are angry.
