[IN] AMD Hires Former IBM Executive - Page 3

I think differently - AMD needs to scrap Fusion and FX and all of that garbage, and bring out real, usable products that can compete.

It shouldn't be hard, Intel keeps cramming garbage like Centrino and GMA Graphics into everything. Of course, they are not quite as god-awful these days as say, Indeo, Celeron or HT was - but they are but easy steps to god-awful.

AMD is finally getting its wake up call, still I think if things keep going in the right direction, its still gonna take AMD a year or two to prove its on its feet and in full throttle to challenge their main competitors and give them a run for their money.

Seriously? That's the most uninformed comment I have read in the past few weeks.

Scrap fusion... seriously? I'd take that comment back before more people read this thread. Just such a silly comment to make considering Fusion is great. Fusion and ATi are the best things going for AMD right now.

It is interesting how people make judgements of people off their surname. Very deep. /sarcasm

Hopefully this pans out to be a good move.
AMD needs to get someone in who knows, or at least understands the x86 game and can get results.
And he seems to be from better pedigree than their past appointments.

I don't really know about this. It seems like they grabbed the right person but for the wrong job. They need people that are in the x86 business. That's where their company is going down-hill in. Their portable/ultra portable market is fine.
What they need is for someone who knows how to manage the companies and improve company policy. Let the engineer's engineer, management is for the company focus
