ASRock Instant Boot?

Thread Starter
Anyone used it? Is it good to use or not? I like to shut down my computer usually to keep it running smoother, and this seems like it might not shut down all the way?

If you have used it, whats the difference between Fast and Regular mode? I think it says I would have to keep the ac power on in fast mode, so that seems like it doesn't shut down all the way and might be bad if the power goes out?

That's what I figured. I don't really mind waiting for windows to actually boot up instead.

All Instant Boot does is that when you choose shutdown in Windows, it actually restarts the computer, loads Windows and then goes into sleep/hibernate so that the next time you need to use your computer, it is coming out of sleep mode (and therefore loading much faster) rather than booting up from a cold start.

The difference between Regular and Fast mode I believe is that Regular mode uses hibernate whereas Fast mode uses sleep/standby.

For some people this might be useful. They get to combine the features of having a cleanly rebooted system with faster start up time when they need to use their PC. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it as junk. tongue.gif
