unfortunately AMD kept their focus on the number 8 instead of the overall performance of a single core. i cant lie about being disapointed, but seeing as there are issues with it even at stock (and still bottlenecking at 4.6) makes me wonder how much focus they are going to put on an archetecture that is already several years old, especially when piledriver is supposed to be rite around the corner... they are saying 15% increase over bulldozer with piledriver, which basically means 12% over a phenom II x4 980 BE, which is just plain sad. i want to root for amd in this, but its hard to feel bad for them, when they make shortcuts to produce a chip that barely holds its own with a previous archetecture... in the end i see amd sueing intel and claiming they are trying to secure a monopoly... its hard to support them when theyve already done it several times in the past...

Surely you like mine then?
That? The power.. oh.. that's where I left my spare ~1 billion transistors. D'oh.

Seriously. Double the transistors of Thuban, less performance (even with higher clocks), more power consumption, poor per-thread scaling, and the price went up, too? And now BSOD issues? Yeah, I can't wait.

I can't believe the design wasn't trashed before it ever made it to silicon. Wasn't the entire point of sharing resources to make the design smaller? So how did we end up here?

The sig looks great. I especially like the "I have never lied" part. It goes nicely with his "response" to the backlash he got.. you know.. the part where he said he -only- posted the increased IPC comment on XS. ..Then I found it on Anands forum. And here. All over the place, really. Not quotes either - him speaking directly.

I'd almost ask him: "Was someone paying you to keep making those statements, John?" Someone sure had an agenda.

Not likely. Not with LLC.

I think its more likely that the motherboard just rejects Bulldozer because it doesn't want a useless turd inserted in the CPU socket.

Is it actually possible for AMD to get any lower than this?

Maybe piledriver will just be the excess FX-8150 stock they'll have left over and someone got a sharpie and changed the "8150" to "9150".

Even doing that AMD would probably find a way to make it perform worse than the FX-8150 too xD

That's about the only thing lower that AMD could do.

Wow... What's worse is that you're currently running your CPU at stock. What model are you running?

0x101...the watch dog. That is one the few BSODs that pretty much never leave any doubt as to the cause. 0x101 means you have an unstable CPU or is otherwise unresponsive. Something every one on this forum should have seen coutless times. Could be clocked too high or not getting fed enough power. If this is stock settings...then this is bad...really bad.
