About to reinstall Windows Vista 64bit inplace of current 32bit. Questions

I just recieved a copy of a 64bit Vista and was going to install it in place of my 32bit vista home premium and use the same key. As for formatting the drive what should I do? Do I need to run killdisk or should I just insert the disk, make a new partition and install? I'de prefer to wipe the drive, but don't really know how to go about doing it. I know I could use the boot disk to format and overwrite the previous install, but is that good enough?

Just run the disk and wipe the existing partition through the installer. I've never bothered going beyond that.

There is a format option on the windows disk itself. All you will need is the windows disk to format and install, However if you wish to use killdisk it is also a good tool for formatting.
