Temps for a Phenom II x4 970

Thread Starter
what do you think of these temps

Phenom II x4 970 BE - Overclocked to 4.0GHz (stable)

Multiplier: x20
Bus Clock: 200
VCore - 1.440 volts

Artic Silver 5 paste with Xigmatech Dark Knight CPU Cooler

Idle temp: 36C
Load temp: 55C

I am concerned because my idle seems a bit high and my load goes past 50C. Anything to be concerned about?

Idle temps are often highly inaccurate, and really don't matter. Load temps are fine.

36'C is a good idle.

Keep load temps under 55'C, everything is looking good.

FYI 1.55v max too.

You have 2 fans on that Dark Knight? How about the crossbow adapter to turn the cooler the correct way? It is not so much the temps as I think you can get them a little better. As ^ Mr.too-short said, keep it under 55c, otherwise you will start BSOD'ing.

dark knight is a single fan CPU, and being its on AMD socket u can only oreintate it NORTH or SOUTH, and since i have a case fan on the top exhaust i have to face the fan towards the bottom and it sucks in the air from the GPU, im wondering if that increases my cpu heat

There are brackets made to allow you to install it horizontally, that's what I was telling you
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835233060

the Dark Knight comes with 1 fan, you have to install another for optimal cooling
