How to hookup 3 monitors to 2 cards?

Thread Starter
I have 2 GTX 580s and clearly NVIDIA is slacking (as is EVGA) with the lack of a DisplayPort...which I never even checked the specs when I purchased as I assumed they included it...

Anyways, each card has 2xDVI slots on the back and since I have 2 cards, thats 4xDVI slots.

My current monitor is plugged into the top left slot. How does it work with another monitor, or another two monitors. If I plug them into any DVI slot on either card, will it just detect them through Windows?

Thanks.

Windows should automatically identify them. If not just goto your display settings and identify them yourself. I'm not sure about 3 monitors, but my EVGA GTX560Ti displays both of my monitors just fine.

if you are using SLI. both monitors need to be plugged into the top card and windows should detect them no problem. if you are using NVidia surround 2 monitors need to be plugged into the top card with the 3rd plugged into the second card. you would then change the the nvidia control panel to span all 3 monitors with nvidia surround. if you are using both cards independant from eachother with SLI disabled it wont matter what dvi port you plug additional monitors into.
I hope this jumble of words helped you out some
